Nostalgic Cherry Bowl
Jennifer saved a small log from a cherry tree that she used to love. She let it cure for two years, then gave it to me to make into something. After opening the log and determining what condition the wood was in, we agreed to make a bowl and chopsticks.
“Thank you again for making Christmas special this year”
– Jennifer
Jam Knife Gifts
Mary Beth wanted to give the gift of jam preserves with a custom spreader knife for her friends and family. She wanted a smaller knife than the one I offered in my store, so we discussed the size, shape and quantity before agreeing on a bulk order. On shipment, I attached tags to each knife to make the gift extra special.
“The final product exceeded my expectations”
– Mary Beth
Baby Gate Picture Frames
Steven wanted picture frames made out of an old crib and baby gate that he and his wife had been holding onto for sentimental reasons. After some brainstorming, we agreed on three sets of two: a pair of 8x10s using the top piece of the crib, a pair of 5x7s using the narrow vertical pieces, and a pair of 4x6s using the plastic mesh as part of the frame design.
“They are even better than what I had imagined”
– Steven
Slab Side Table
Rani wanted a side table to fit in a specific spot in her living room. She loved the reclaimed wood look, so we discussed different options and came up with a simple but elegant solution using an offcut of live edge walnut and some construction scraps.
“OH MY GOSH IT IS PERFECT!”
– Rani
Chart-Top Tables
Jen had a chart of Antarctica that she inherited from her father, and she wanted to use it to make two side tables that could either go together as a single piece or be separated. She told me the dimensions she wanted and after some back-and-forth about style and types of wood, I drew up a few ideas for her to consider. In the end she opted for a combination of reclaimed barn oak, some pine and cedar scraps, and industrial accents from scraps of metal.
“I am still in awe of your ingenuity”
– Jen
Bookshelf/Pantry Set
Roya wanted a set of shelves to use in her kitchen, that she could later repurpose as bookshelves. She sent me pictures of styles she liked, and after we had the overall dimensions figured out, I came up with some different design ideas. We finally went with a modern industrial vibe and rustic slatted shelves, using pine construction scraps.
“You should know that I am absolutely in love”
– Roya
